Duchenne muscular dystrophy

The Duchenne type of muscular dystrophy (DMD), primarily affect the skeletal muscles which are used for movement, and the muscles of the heart. DMD is the most common form of muscular dystrophy in children.

It affects only boys (with extremely rare exceptions) and is inherited in an X-linked recessive pattern.
