Term Definition
Testosterone treatment

Testosterone is a hormone that promotes the development and maintenance of male sex characteristics.

Testosterone may be prescribed in cases of Klinefelter syndrome where the testicles are poorly developed and therefore unable to make sufficient levels of the hormone. There are various different types of testosterone treatment (e.g. patches, injections, implants and gels). Additional information can be found at the KS Association UK: Testosterone treatments
